The Flaws You Find After Your Bike Is GONE!

Bike locks are meant to provide a sense of security, but not all locks are created equal. In this article, we’ll explore the flaws of a low-quality bike lock that is far from adequate in protecting your bike.

The lock in question is an Amazon purchase with a five-pin dimple core. Using a standard hook turned sideways and a 50,000 thick Turner, it was picked open with relative ease. The quick process of unlocking the lock already raises concerns about its security level.

However, the real shock comes when we strip away the plastic and nylon layers to reveal the lock’s construction. The lock’s skeletonized structure is far from ideal, with corners cut to save on costs, compromising its integrity.

Upon removing the nylon, a very thin chain is exposed. Measuring only about six millimeters, the links don’t seem to be welded, making it susceptible to breakage. With just a couple of screwdrivers, the chain was easily opened, further proving the inferior quality of the lock.

In conclusion, picking the lock is only one aspect of assessing its security. In this case, the poor construction and thin chain demonstrate that not all bike locks provide the protection they promise. When it comes to securing your bike, invest in a high-quality lock that can withstand picking attempts and has a solid build. Otherwise, you might find your bike gone before you know it.
