Design Flaw In Fitnate “Smart” Doorknob

The Fitnate model YL98 electronic doorknob may look like a stylish and futuristic addition to any home, but it’s important to not judge a book by its cover. While I initially found the design of this smart doorknob appealing, closer examination revealed at least two significant security weaknesses.

Under normal operation, the latch remains immobile when turning the outside handle. However, entering the factory default code (0-1-2-3) allows the latch to move freely. Additionally, there is a backup key cylinder on the bottom of the knob, which provides an extra layer of security.

Despite these features, the lock is surprisingly easy to pick. Using a 40,000 thick turning tool and a wave rake from the Genesis set, I was able to rake the pins and open the lock within seconds. This flaw raises significant security concerns, as even an amateur lock picker could gain access quickly.

Shockingly, an even faster and easier method to bypass this lock exists: using a powerful magnet. Placing the magnet on the side of the knob instantly unlocks the door. This glaring vulnerability makes the Fitnate YL98 doorknob a poor choice for anyone concerned about security.

In conclusion, while the futuristic design of the Fitnate YL98 electronic doorknob may be appealing to some, its multiple security flaws render it a poor choice for safeguarding your home. It’s essential to prioritize security over style when selecting a lock for your property.
