This Lock Company Outsmarted Me…

Today, I present to you a lock that appears to be the most generic lock ever made. There is no writing on its plain white packaging or the lock body itself. The only visible words are “hardened” on the shackle and “lock” on the key. Ironically, both of those claims are probably inaccurate. The key, of course, is not the lock, and I highly doubt that the shackle is actually well-hardened.

What’s even more ironic is that when I find flaws in this lock, I can’t tell you which brand or model to avoid, because I don’t know who made it. In a way, this mystery lock company has already beaten me before the game even started.

Despite the anonymity, I’ll demonstrate what it takes to get this lock open. Using a padlock bypass driver from my covert companion, I’ll insert it into the unshielded keyway, maneuver it into position, give it a turn, and as you can see, the lock pops open easily.

Clearly, this lock leaves much to be desired, but there’s not much I can do about it since I don’t know the company or the model. So, to the mystery company responsible for this lock, well played – you win this round.
