http://www.proshaper.com Wray shows how to roll a Jaguar E-Type fender in steel with an English Wheel. Wray's work is first class and he makes his parts look like they're chrome plated. Hard to believe he isn't English, he's such a skilled craftsman!

pressure zone to the medium pressure zone, this is true with any wheel
0:24
Again, these are my definitions, I think it accurately reflects what needs to be described
0:34
In the light pressure zone, pretty much you're doing mostly smoothing, very little adding of area
0:43
So in the light pressure zone, that's what you do your finish wheeling
0:54
The next zone will be your middle pressure zone. middle zone. The middle zone is where you do most of your work. Middle zone, you do
1:04
smoothing, but you also add area to the panel. You're stretching the panel out. So
1:12
and in the middle zone, you don't get a lot of what's called wheel stop marks or furrows or
1:21
wheel marks. It still stays pretty nice and smooth. Now the progress is a little slower than if you go
1:28
into the high pressure zone. If you go into a high pressure zone, which is really
1:32
cranking it up, it'll gain area faster. It'll be basically thinning out, gaining an area
1:42
but you do get a lot of stop marks Whenever you stop the wheel leaves a little tiny little indent They easy to get out but it just something easy to do
1:55
They're fixed. So that's if you're attempting to wheel this panel out all the way
2:11
You might do some of it in the high pressure zone. then you would go into the medium pressure zone and slowly but sure the shape
2:21
would start to appear here that you desire and in the process of wheeling you can
2:28
also set the arrangement so I know this thing is supposed to have this shape
2:32
like this so as you're pulling it out you pull down a little bit and it starts
2:40
to induce that that desired role. I just want to do that a little bit
2:49
You see now what's happening here is the panel is
3:09
so that's not looking like chrome play. What that is, is the fine, smooth finish on your top wheel is printing onto the metal
3:25
It's a printing process through pressure, just prints its surface right on
3:32
So if you doing this the English method you going to be doing this close tracking pattern A bunch of shorts then longs
3:46
A bunch of shorts, then longs. Pull this
3:58
Let's mess up a little bit. Let's head you over. So we haven't made too much progress, but we made a little bit
5:28
about an inch already Just in a few minutes That wasn bad but it finally finishes out
5:34
It's going to be a couple of hours to do this panel probably. That's not including, that's just the gross shape
5:40
That's not including all the details. The details will take as much as what it takes to develop the shape in time. So..
5:52
You have to mark your pattern now? No, not yet. Yeah, index
5:58
We put little corner marks in here. So we get the pattern always back at the same spot
6:03
But we're still really early in the development, so we don't have to worry about it yet
6:08
All right. So that would be the English method if you were going to do the whole job
6:19
the whole job just by English wheel. The panel will look, you know, as good as a panel can get
6:25
Both sides will be absolutely perfect. It's a little slower, a little methodical, no noise
6:34
And now we're going to try a different method. We'll do a little shrinking instead
6:40
And a little bit of shrinking even with a lot of area change quick
6:45
But it's quite disruptive to the panel. But that will also move out too
6:52
And eventually it'll all look like chrome plate, all that shrinking will go right away all the shrinking marks
6:59
So we're going to shrink in these two little black zone areas here, bring this up
7:06
I'll do that next
