Block Drop

How to play

Three pieces are offered at a time; place all three and the next three appear. Drag a piece onto the board (it floats above your finger so you can see it), or tap a piece and then tap the board. Pieces can’t be rotated. Fill a whole row or column to clear it; clearing on back-to-back placements builds a combo. The game ends when none of the pieces left to place fits anywhere. There’s no undo.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Block Drop?
Three pieces are offered at a time. Drag each onto the 8×8 board — or tap a piece, then tap the board — anywhere it fits entirely on empty cells. Pieces can't be rotated. Place all three and the next three appear. Fill a whole row or column to clear it.
How does scoring and the combo work?
Every block you place scores a point. Clearing lines scores a bonus that grows quickly with how many you clear at once, and it is multiplied when you clear on back-to-back placements. The game ends when none of the pieces still on offer fits anywhere, and that final score is your result.
Is today's puzzle the same for everyone?
Yes. Everyone gets the same sequence of 90 pieces, generated from the calendar date (US Eastern) and checked in advance so a strong player can always keep going. Medals are set against a solver's score on that sequence. Open a past day with ?d=YYYY-MM-DD.
