Mini Sudoku

How to play

Fill the grid so every row, column and 2×3 box holds the numbers 1 to 6 once. Tap an empty square, then a number. Pale numbers on lighter squares are clues.

Nothing is marked while you play. Check turns wrong numbers red and counts each new one as a mistake. You get 3 hints; each fills a square and says why, and rules out gold. Give up shows the solution and completes the day with no medal.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Mini Sudoku?
Fill the 6×6 grid so every row, every column and every 2×3 box holds the numbers 1 to 6 exactly once. Tap an empty square, then tap a number. The pale numbers on lighter squares are clues and cannot be changed. Turn on Notes to jot small candidate numbers.
How are mistakes counted?
Nothing is marked while you play. When you press Check, wrong numbers turn red and each new wrong number counts as one mistake. Gold needs no mistakes and no hint, silver allows up to two mistakes, and bronze is any solve.
Can I get hints?
Yes, three per puzzle. A hint fills in one correct square and explains in one sentence why it has to be that number. Using a hint rules out gold. Give up shows the solution and completes the day with no medal.
Is every puzzle solvable without guessing?
Yes. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be finished by logic alone. Monday uses only the simplest technique; harder days need more, and Sunday needs a pair or a line of numbers.
Is today's puzzle the same for everyone?
Yes. Mini Sudoku is generated from the calendar date (US Eastern), so everyone gets the same puzzle. Open a past day with ?d=YYYY-MM-DD.
