Solving The T13 Padlock Puzzle

Locked out or locked in a question before you begin, though, the answer might break you, no matter how long this lock takes you, it won’t free you from the prison with him locked off or locked up a question before you get stuck. You see the key i’ve designed won’t free, the man who’s confined by the weight and the need to give up. You may beg you may pray as your fingers begin to decay. Is this lock even worth besting when, in fact, here’s the real question? What exactly have they locked away?

Ladies and gentlemen, once a year mr raynor popp, who is a german locksmith engineer, genius releases a very sought-after, extremely rare and oftentimes difficult and very heavy lock puzzle. These are known as pop locks uh. They are very hard to come by very rare. You got to be on a list and even then you got ta be lucky to be able to get one and they run at about fifteen hundred dollars and then afterwards, on the aftermarket sell for thousands and thousands of dollars.

These are actually really hard to come by and extremely uh difficult, yet genius, there’s always some genius applied to these they’ve been my favorite lock puzzles in history, and you can go back on my channel and check out. Maybe a dozen of the other lock puzzles that i’ve done from rainer. This is number 13 pop lock number 13, the t-lock poplar p-lock 13

So heavy this thing probably weighs like 10 pounds new curls with these it comes with a key naturally all right. We know what to expect that obviously wasn’t going to open it on the first shot, but uh i’ve cleared the schedule. We’Ve got a few hours to do this.

Let’S just get into solving it grab yourself a coffee, let’s go okay! First of all, let me tell you this thing was freezing cold this.

When i got at the box, it was so cool. It would like burn your hand. We had to like let it thaw out for like 30 minutes um, so this thing is heavy dude like extremely heavy uh. Let’S go through the obvious things. First of all, uh there’s hold on be right back.

It comes with this which says no hitting shaking force or gravity needed, which i love. I don’t like the gravity mazes to open the lock. Do not unscrew upper buttons. Threads are glued, so don’t unscrew these. The tiny nut is tightened well and has a left-handed thread.

Okay, always assemble, complete and tighten the tiny knot. Well, okay should be a tiny knot somewhere, so we got a little hole here. Closer look here. You got a little hole here. Um we got a keyhole and uh.

We got this in the back and that’s pretty much yeah. We got this as well. Maybe that’s the tiny, no. I doubt it and then yeah. This thing has like three layers to it.

So, first things first, okay, that turns, let me take it out, see what’s happening in there. Click a big click just happened. A really big click just happened and then stops there and it doesn’t go back. Okay, so we’ve kind of locked something into place. Oh, this here check this out.

Let me try pushing on this while turning this, maybe that does something [ Music ] like dirty fingernail. What am i doing? People stare at my gross hands all day. The least i can do is like wash my hands whatever. Okay, citizens of earth the hadrian base station has been compromised.

The ai has now replicated himself and is on his way down to you. We are dealing with a highly functional and intelligent entity. I need your help in stopping the spread. Please be careful. The fate of the command as well as our future may well be in your hands, so this clicks this doesn’t.

This is so heavy now we’re back to the start, like dude once that clicked might have been a trap, but once i click there, i can’t go back. It used to spin all the way around and i keep pressing the logo on the back to see. If something will what, if they’re layered trying to see if these things are layered, so maybe i don’t insert the key completely, you know what i mean there’s like a little notch here as well right there. You can kind of hear it geez. So, while turning this, i feel this moving a tiny bit this little spot here, so maybe keep my finger on there it pushes through it is moving a tiny bit.

I’M thinking because this as well is like a separate part. So i’m thinking, maybe it shifts or slides somehow it seems to yep. It definitely does want to move. Maybe i push and then slide. Oh my god, i’m getting hand cramps ready it spins.

Oh my god. Oh this actually turns check that out. Maybe that does something! Oh weird, okay, now this looks like it goes in. It’S like scraping against something.

Oh, this is stuck now. Okay, so that’s stuck there, oh that just clicked! Oh, oh! So boom it shifts up. Ah look at that is that the first step done.

Okay, so there’s some type of compartment down there. I knew that thing shifted. Oh no, i put it back. Okay, wait. We can do this again, so that is now up in the upright position and the logo still does not uh turn, but we are here.

Is this turning? Oh, this is turning it’s like loosening. You hear that listen. What does that do? Maybe i got ta put the key in now one two, three four five there, one two, three, four five one, two there’s five clicks, so i guess we try click!

One try everything, click, two click. Three click. Four click, five, hmm, oh, it doesn’t go down all the way okay hold on. Ah it’s so weird just locks there and it wants to go back up. It always pushes back up huh.

No, oh! No! It’S locked wait! Oh, oh, my what is happening my hands are so one thing is that okay boom, that goes up now, when i turn this thing, does this thing turn by the way? That’S not turning anymore.

When i turn this thing, there’s these clicks one two, three, four, five they’re, very subtle and when i’m at like, let’s say five okay, that goes down, but then it wants to just go back up again, but there was at one position it’s position. Two okay was just two closes position: three position, four and just lifts right back up again position; five same thing, so that doesn’t do anything. Oh something’s happening nope, i’m gon na try to press these buttons; okay, so here’s here’s the thing: here’s where i’m at we’ve got five clicks, one: two, three, four: five, i’m going to click one, try to turn the key push the silver silver button in the back; Push the logo turn the key, i’m doing everything, process of elimination here. Okay, now i’m going to press it down, i’m going to push the buttons in the back, try to get both of them as well as turning nothing’s happening. Wait did something happen, no okay.

This is position number two, nothing back up position. Three position, number four final position: nope, it’s kind of frustrating here. This thing still doesn’t turn it’s turned once this thing here now it’s upside down, i’m not sure. If that’s the way it’s supposed to be, maybe it matters where this is when that gets locked down. I know it sounds complicated, but maybe it matters that it’s [, Music.

]. Oh look at this look at [, Music, ]. What the hell is that what the hell is that do i take this apart? Is this what they were talking about? Do i have to take this apart?

What the hell is that oh look at the inside, it’s like the inside of a clock that is crazy. [, Music ] – that is insane – is this a tiny nut they were talking about because i can unscrew this oh and it goes left-handed. It goes the other way. So definitely okay. I don’t wan na okay, i’m kind of very scared to to to know what to do next.

Okay, i’m gon na put everything in position that uh it should go on. [, Music, ], oh damn it! Where was that? Okay? That goes there that goes there!

I’M guessing oh man, okay, [, Music ]! What’S this for, though [ Music ], why would they make me unscrew that? Because it said after you found it, the tiny nut is tightened well and has a left-handed thread. Should i have just left it huh should. I have just left it: no, why are they doing this?

Oh god, these little spacers just fell. Okay. This is the way it was. You can line up those holes. Okay, so like that sounds like that.

That was like that. I feel like get my finger trapped in there and cut off okay, so there’s this giant wheel right down there, which attaches to these, i feel, like i’m, disassembling a puzzle. I shouldn’t. I really feel like i’m not supposed to be doing this. What would they have me do?

Why would they tell me that, was i not supposed to take this off? Oh there’s. Wait. Wait a second ah-ha! This one has two holes.

These have one. These are identical, no wait! Yeah! These are identical. This one was like this and i guess i have to rearrange it so wait.

It was like this. I guess. Maybe i have to rearrange it like that [ Music ] could that be because now they can fit in the pinhole right so where it was like that, ah, do i have to make a different lock? Is the solution to this lock rearranging how the lock works and not the key, but how do i know? How do i know do i change posit?

Okay, let’s just oh my god, i’m not going to use the spacers! Oh, should i use the spacers? Maybe i should use the spacers okay, so final one was like that because it was just like the other ones, but now i guess i can do this. Okay, i’m gon na lock myself out of this lock. Okay, i guess like this.

Oh god, this is scary. I’M gon na tighten it real. Well, okay, it’s going in! Well, i see i have to fall within the grooves, okay, okay, that still works. I understand how this lock works now, because this here now that we know what’s on the inside, the teeth are like this.

While turning this i’ll make the teeth, go like that right and so right now, it can’t move the lock until i go all the way around and put it down now it can move the lock. But what does that do? What does that do? Is that not supposed to unlock what we’re trying to unlock here? Okay, wait: let’s get it back out.

Can we can we do that? Wait we had to get this here there we go okay, because that thing is still pressed in in the back, but i guess it gets pushed with this. Oh i can oh there we go. I just locked it behind that thing. Now i don’t know if that’s good, let’s try it out, i don’t know.

Let me try and get this thing out of here again extremely scary and complicated. There’S always a fear that i have been on this for like well well over an hour and there’s always a fear. I have uh, which is messing up the mechanism and locking myself out or falling into maybe a trap, or you never know you just never know, and that’s the fear that i’m having right now. So i know that i can pop the lock up, and i think that is due to the fact that i rotated this end this still pushes in by the way um once i’m there. I know that i can turn this and there are five clicks and maybe each one of them does something different.

Maybe i have to do them in an order. Do one do something come back, do two, do something come back, uh, very tedious, but at the same time you know extremely scary, but i know that if i go to three that’s where i found that i can go here now. I can push on this. The stainless part in the back as well as rotate this and now it starts to come out, and now i can now. I can fully push it out and sort of wiggle it out.

I know that just kind of wiggles it out there we go boom, and now we have this that’s loose again um once we have this, i know that we can rearrange that last one. Actually, there might be another way to rearrange it hold on, because i could also okay, so this was a starting position. This is where i put it. I guess the other way i can go is like this right and then i have two more positions here. I got this and then i got this, so those are all things that i have to try out right now.

So let’s try one okay, i have to remember which one i did let’s go here. Let’S go here all the way here: rotate [, Music, ], nice and tight. That’S in now it does this again trying to push the buttons at the back. Oh maybe these! Oh, this one moves that move before whoa, so that shifts this little thing shifts here.

I’M not sure if it did that before does this one move, this one doesn’t move this one moves, though okay, so maybe put it back down, maybe so robust that comes back out. I don’t know why i’m pulling it back out again, but whatever i guess we try, the other and another thing: does it matter um? Does it matter on which layer this last one is that’s another thing? What, if that matters, then we’re in trouble and there’s so many combinations here? Try this trying it again: [ Music ]!

I got it out while it’s open. I’Ve never done that before. Oh, no, it’s okay! All right! My brain actually needs a break right now.

I’M hungry and i’ve been at this for, like an hour and a half, i need to take a little break all right well good morning. It is the next day went to had supper and then kind of didn’t come back to it. So here we are. Hopefully we can get her done. I don’t know where it was.

Oh yeah discouraged all right, so we’ve tried a few combinations here now. What i’m worried about is that the combination of rings here isn’t correct. Maybe i have to switch it up. I don’t know if that’ll change anything like if i put this one second, actually i try this way. I try this one: okay, oh yeah, there’s also the uh there’s that thing in the back, which is like that stainless bolt, which, if i push on it and goes back into that position and we’ve found that this as well shifts this little button here.

But ever so little that raises it up: [, Music, ], [, Music ]. I can always oh yeah this thing’s stuck. That’S the only thing i can do. The only thing i figured out to do is how to get thing. Get this thing back out by pushing on both of these, i think or just one of them.

I push on both of them every time, but it’s probably just the one trying to see. If there’s anything i can see that’ll. Let me know what pattern i should choose with this really just is like this sort of flat track of teeth, so i’m guessing once this turns maybe that track of teeth has to keep going. Do you know what i mean like right here, i’m like maybe two-thirds of a full circle. Maybe i got ta find a combination.

Uh i’ve had to make it like a full circle that makes sense to keep it going. So if i had this one second like this, and then i think this one like this or maybe like this – is that the same thing that looks that’s decent right. Oh, i forgot the spacer right now. We’Ve almost got like a legit full circle. All right.

Let’S try that up. Let us try this out. Okay, oh didn’t, do the same thing. It’S stuck usually when turning it it’ll go clock and it’ll like lock into like the top position, but now now we’re just stuck. Oh there we go [ Music, ], [, Music, ], whoa, [, Music, ], okay.

So i did something interesting here um because of this i think i actually did turn the mechanism on the inside uh, because when i went to reset it, i guess by pressing with the key it just went and something shifted on the inside. So let me try that what i just did again – which was this see this freely turns now, and it stops here. Nothing happens, so we take it out. Now. I’Ve actually wound it.

Oh i’ve actually wound it. So now we’re in a position where the thing is actually been wound, and we were here so do i put it back here and try another full rotation we’ll try again, it does not want to go okay. Let’S try here does not want to go about here. Let’S try that maybe this all right watch this watch the inside see if you can see the inside, it’s a lot harder to push by the way boom. You like claps, into place this this thing, that’s in there, okay uh like this.

I think we got the right combination here. Unless maybe we have to change the combination again, but that wouldn’t make sense, we got a full circle now, this way all the way to the end: [, Music, ] and now now we take it out or do we take it out yeah, we have no choice Because we have to turn it hmm [, Music ]. Maybe i have to change this now that we’ve, given it a wind, let’s try that give it a little bit a little bit more teeth. I don’t want to push the stainless stem back because everything resets, so i i think i just have to find the right position when inserting this uh sort of lock cylinder. If i find the right position, i can probably wind it up again: [ Music ].

Is there a more optimal way of placing these that make a full circle? That’S what we’re going to try to do these ones are identical. That’S the best way to place it. We’Ve almost got a full circle there that we had. Shall we try it again?

Oh boy, all right, we start again notice how it fits in flush now [, Music ], because the peg is pushed in right and i think that’s the only way you can actually turn the key. Oh it’s locked again, i don’t know i was like really locked. Oh, this is what i was afraid of uh. Oh okay, it’s actually locked in place. This no longer moves.

Nothing moves, oh no [, Music ]! It won’t do anything! Maybe this! Ah, i can rotate this now here we go. Maybe rotate this back to upwards positions.

Why is it now? I’M like i’m, really confused because now nothing moves apart from this first thing that moved the first time, but even then the key moved earlier now the key is just completely stuck, so i’m worried that i may have triggered some mechanism to completely stick it into place. This is my worst fear. Okay, we’re back to we’re back to here, we’re back to here. Okay, that’s good!

That’S good! That means that’s good! Okay! So now, okay, i’m tired! I’M slowly running out of patience here i feel like i’m running around in circles there and then maybe i have to push ah now it should turn [ Music ] and now it’s locked here: aha [, Music, ].

So, basically, like a clock, i’m kind of winding this gear and then pushing in this stainless, pin to lock it into place, pushing the cylinder back in and then winding it up pushing this back in okay, that’s kind of what’s happening here. Oh look at this. Look at this oh huh watch. If i slide this one and now i can slide them both here. Aha they’re connected look: the middle shackle is a little bit raised.

Oh oh, let’s go! Oh! Oh, my god, my body, just flushed of like adrenaline in my hand, my hands are actually shaking right. Now i probably spent i don’t know way too long, trying to get this open. That is wild.

That is wild. It’S a total of like four hours here. I’M exhausted between two days of just tampering and trial and error and constant. I honestly don’t know if i would be able to do this exactly again. I don’t i don’t know, because i got to put this back to whatever was the beginning.

I don’t remember what that was: [ Music, ], okay, what a lock imagine imagine having to unlock this to get to get to your locker or something okay, so apparently uh my camera shut off. While i was putting back together. So you have the audio of me. Putting back uh putting this puzzle back together, here’s the audio, maybe like this boom, so they’re, all like sort of at the same arrangement make this very tight. That is a t13 lock puzzle solved, ladies and gentlemen, super fascinating, but there you go, i’m not going to i’m not gon na disassemble this and put it back together.
